Most of us have times in our lives where situations, problems or difficulties affect our personal lives and perhaps our effectiveness on the job. The City understands and encourages you to utilize your Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Employees and their household members can get professional counseling and work/life services in areas such as Elder Care. This benefit is paid for by the City and FREE to the employee and household members.

Are you enrolled in the ARAG Legal Plan? If yes, call 1-800-247-4185 Monday - Friday 6 am to 6 pm CST. If you aren't enrolled in ARAG, call the EAP at (602) 534-5433.
The Employee Assistance Program is available as an additional management tool in improving job performance issues. It is not, however, a substitute for normal administrative or disciplinary procedure. For referral information or other questions, please contact your Human Resources Supervisor, Officer or Liaison. Fire Department Supervisors contact Rick Canfield, (602) 358-3972. When possible, Supervisor Referrals to an EAP counselor should be made on City time (limited to three sessions on City time). Licensed and certified mental health professionals provide services.
When there is a CRISIS (critical incident, accident, death of employee, other workplace trauma), the EAP offers Crisis Intervention and Support. Contact the Benefits Office at 602-262-4777, your Human Resource representative or MHN Management Consultant at 1 (800) 888-4024, option 2, ext. 4980.
